A discovery along several sections

When entering the Arche des Métiers, you set off to explore the know-hows of the companies in the Boutières: the textile industry, jewellery, mechanics, fruits trade and mineral water. Visiting the Arche des Métiers is also the opportunity to meet some novices and initiates at the scientific café and documentation sections, and to have access to many information at the kiosk which presents scientific and technical news.

The building consists of 3 floors covering an area of 900m², dedicated to the trades and crafts, to those men and women who were the real architects of the development of their department. Those who, behind the scenes, made the silk throwing, the yarn and the fibres industries appear in the Dorne and Eyrieux valleys… those who drilled holes in the volcanic rock in order to extract mineral water, which is well renowned for its medicinal virtues… those jewellers with golden hands who made Le Cheylard reputed to be the jewel country… that ingenious René Perrier who found his place in history with his mechanical inventions… that daring Descours family who turned its small family business into a real fruits trade import-export company…
